Biography

formed in 1975 by a former member of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and was originally known as the Plymouth Argyll Pipe Band. The following year the band came under the wing of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Association and for many years performed as “The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders Regimental Association Pipes & Drums ”. Quite a mouthful! By 1985 the Plymouth branch of that association had disbanded and our name changed once again, with the kind permission of the City Council, to the City of Plymouth Pipe Band. The Band is privileged to have the Lord Mayor of Plymouth as patron. Our aim is to foster and enhance pipe band music for the enjoyment of its members and the general public. The band wears Ancient Campbell of Argyll tartan.
