Biography

Six friends from South Devon who play to entertain and have fun. We’re an upbeat eclectic roots, folk-rock, Roots, Cajun, Country band taking inspiration from traditional and modern songs - an original treatment of a strong song is what we’re all about, and equally well-received on a festival stage, in folk clubs, pubs, weddings, or playing for charity or community events. From Dylan to Show of Hands … something for everyone!


“Mother’s Ruin” is an electric/acoustic folk band playing a range of upbeat covers and original numbers.

Mother’s Ruin play upbeat and foot- tapping folk rock. Their music ranges through traditional folk, folk rock, Americana and Cajun where an original treatment of great songs is the foundation of their repetoire.
Julian Nietrzebka, Lis Durham, Rob Lamboll, Chris Code, Jim Taylor and Nick Jones make up the band.

As well as strong vocals the band plays lap steel, violin, guitar, banjo, accordion, bass and percussion.

Past perfomances include festivals, pubs, clubs, weddings and other social events. Festival performances include Wadebridge/Cornwall, Lapstock, Bude, Teignmouth and others. Clubs and pubs include The Whisky Distillery, Ye Olde Cider Bar, The Cockhaven Arms, Totnes Folk Club, Furzleigh Mill and others.
