This session will look at the relationship between the body, breath, and voice as an authentic way of singing folk songs. During this workshop you will find out more about your own voice and learning adding your voice to sing with others. For singers wanting to improve their own solo singing and those interested in folk choirs.
Paul Wilson is co-founder of Devon based folk organisation Wren Music. He is a singer, music arranger and songwriter, and architect of Wren’s approach to folk choirs. He believes that anyone can sing, and his approach to singing folk songs is based on the natural (speaking) voice, so if you can walk, you can dance, if you can talk, you can sing!
Paul has written, with Wren Music co-founder Marilyn Tucker, the first academic study on the development of Folk Choirs in England. For Wren Music he leads The West Devon Folk Choir and MenSing, and has run singing workshops at festivals and conferences.
